Key aspects:

* In close collaboration with the Delivery Manager (DM) and Requirements Engineer take over project engineering of a Cat A project at Project Initiation.

* Ensure practices and procedures comply with DE&S policy and standards.

* Produce or contribute to engineering plans, reviews and audits.

* Collect, collate and evaluate technical data, review technical equipment and systems, and make recommendations to the DM.

* Lead on the radar, acoustics and other sensor engineering.

* Build a network of engineers from within Government, DE&S, the Army and industry to establish and deliver the engineering outputs of the project.

Responsibilities:

* Use MOD and industry practice and procedures to analyse a complex environment and recommend solutions.

* Establish the engineering approach to the project.

* Manage, write or contribute to documents such as; Configuration Management Plan, Electromagnetic Environmental Effects Management Plan, Environmental Case, GQA Plan, Human Factors Integration Plan, Modelling and Simulation Plan, Op Adv and FoA Framework, Reliability and Maintainability Case, Safety and Environmental Management Plan, Safety Case, Security Case, Software Acquisition Management Plan, Spatial Data Management Plan, Spectrum Management Plan, Standardization Management Plan as required.

* Collaborate with other member of Artillery Systems and DE&S to produce the best outcome in the available time.

Skills & Experience

Working knowledge of;

* The DE&S business (e.g. purpose, strategy, standards, regulatory constraints, structure, policy, processes, procedures and tools and their intent).

* DE&S Engineering processes in order to deliver work as required. * Radar, acoustics and other sensor technology. * Systems Engineering approaches.

* Front Line Command customers, their technical requirements and forward plan.

* Availability, Reliability and Maintainability.

* Army Equipment Support Publications

* Legislation compliance

Tools and Techniques;

* The skills to contribute to the application of the Guide for Engineering Activities & Review (GEAR).

* Systems Engineering techniques for analysing, presenting and solving problems.

* Planning techniques.

* Good written English.

Engineering Management Skills;

* The skills to understand and influence the design of a system, component, or process to meet customer requirements within realistic constraints (such as technical, economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, and sustainability).

* The ability to help identify, formulate and solve engineering, science or technology problems.
