Job Title: Software Developer

Location: Kingston upon Hull

Salary: £25,000 - £32,000

Job type: Permanent, Full time

The Company are recognised experts in the provision of e-safety, their unique Internet filtering and safeguarding services protects vulnerable children from CSE, grooming and extremism. Founded in 2005, they are a strong and local business, looking for an ambitious software developer to help grow and enhance their current software and team.

Your role will be to develop, support and maintain an in-house developed, unique internet filtering and safeguarding system.

The Role

* Lead for all software developments and be expected to meet customers' expectations with respect to agreed software features and services

* Manage the continued operation of the Company's Internet filtering environment, including but not limited to the Proxy filter, Control and DNS hybrid filter.

* Ensuring that all helpdesk staff are fully conversant with all the latest developments of the software/services and you will be required to identify any concerns that you may have at operations and planning meetings.

* Responsible to ensure that the helpdesk can recover the Internet filtering environment utilising step by step procedures written by you to restore services following incidents or business interruptions.

* Provide status and updates, with respect to all software projects and major issues including those that are completed, in progress, or scheduled to take place. You will also ensure that all necessary resources are available for project work.

* Responsibility for all software solutions.

* Reporting directly to the Operations Director and in his absence, another Company Director.

The Candidate:

Required Skills:

* Object Oriented Java

* Ability to install, run and manage Java applications in application servers such as Tomcat

* Experience of designing and building new applications in a secure environment

* Hands on exposure in Java development

* Spring/Spring Boot Framework

* Netty Framework

* Use of Java 8 is desirable

* Knowledge of MySQL

* Exposure to SQL and Database

* PHP

* Composer
