Advanced Manufacturing & Engineering

The Role

We have a unique opportunity for a Technical Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineer to become a Apprentice Tutor working for a large defence and engineering company delivering training for the next generation of engineers.

The Tutor role will ultimately be to train, support and develop Advanced Manufacturing Engineering trade Apprentices within the Engineering Technician Apprenticeship Standard; and for the Assessment of the Level 2 and Level 3 NVQ/competence qualifications.

You will be given training and support to achieve this and you will receive recognised training qualifications alongside this training.

Specific responsibilities for which the post holder has a requirement to deliver under the guidance of a mentor:

* Responsible for delivery of both theoretical and practical lessons in the relevant subject areas

* Identifying needs of learners and using teaching methods accordingly

* Responsible for the preparation of schemes of work, lesson plans and learning material

* Evaluating and assessing learners performance and progress and documenting progress

* Responsible for Performance management for named learners

* Ensuring all learner progress reports are completed on time, to the correct standard

Requirements Needed

* A willingness to understand the role of a tutor in an educational environment;

* Knowledge of Mechanical Manufacturing/Fabrication and Mechanical Engineering Subjects (milling, turning, hand skills)

* Some experience of the assessment process and ideally of Internal Quality Assurance

* Excellent relationship building skills

* Strong team working ethic.
