Role: Change Delivery Project Manager - Utilities

Duration: 3 - 5 Months

Job Purpose:

The Project Manager will have an understanding and experience of working in both Agile and traditional project management environments.

To successfully manage large, high complexity, possibly ambiguous change projects with technical deliverables. Manage these deliverables, autonomously to a high quality through all stages of the project lifecycle, as directed by the Programme Manager, Change Lead, Initiative Lead or Business Lead in line with agreed UK change methodology and governance processes.

Main Responsibilities

* Responsible for the delivery of multiple changes and new capability to the identified business areas within agreed timescales and to agreed level of quality in order for the business unit to achieve its MTP.

* Provides direction, drive and leadership on projects that may impact a large number of customers and / or internal business users, and tend to be complex requiring large integration across several systems or applications.

* Demonstrates skills to manage large projects that may change multiple interrelated processes across multiple business units where inability to deliver would significantly impact core business operations.

* Is assigned primary responsibility for large scale, highly complex projects which tend to have a wide reaching scope, and will have a high impact on the company.

* Responsible for the definition and agreement of the scope of project to ensure clarity and support of the objective, timescale, budget and quality measures with key leadership team stakeholders.

* Accountable for the definition and management of an appropriate controlled environment for each project including; governance and decision making, investment proposal development, resourcing, management of risks, issues, dependencies, assumptions, changes, stakeholders and team management.

* Responsible autonomously, for the resolution of key project issues and is prepared for discussion of complex project problems and action plans with senior leaders.

* Responsible for ensuring the identified benefits and quantification are valid, realistic and accepted by the Sponsor and benefit owners.

* Responsible for the readiness of targeted business areas to ensure they are ready to accept the change and realise the identified benefits.

* Responsible for delivering to the targeted business areas appropriate tracking mechanisms to ensure benefits are delivered.

* Implements new products, systems, processes etc. with an extremely high degree of competency.

* Work with dependant functions (customer experience, digital, finance, legal marketing communications etc.) which may be geographically dispersed, to establish and maintain fruitful, mutually beneficial relationships.

* Identify opportunities within the Change Team for continuous improvement and work collaboratively with the continuous improvement group to build our best practice framework and techniques.

* Lead, motivate and manage the project team to meet project requirements and schedule.

* Inspire excellence in terms of customer focus, commercial focus and innovative solutions.

* Serves as a project management mentor for Grade 5 Project Managers.

* Manage and monitor the day to day focus and activities of the team, ensuring appropriate productivity measurement and performance standards, robust controls and checks are embedded.

* Comply with and role model the organisation's values and code of conduct.

* Manage purchasing requisitioning, goods and service receipting and invoice payment in line with organisation best practices.

* Manage day to day project pressures and constraints so as to mitigate impact on achieving key performance indicators.

* Ensure all team operations and activities meet internal and external audit standards and where deficiencies are identified ensure action plans are in place and progressed effectively.

Scope of influence:

* Influence leadership team stakeholders; sponsor, benefits owners and steering group members.

* Lead the business to provide cost effective and innovative technical solutions.

* Negotiate and manage external suppliers of new products / solutions.

* Negotiate and manage external agencies - creative, design, consultancy.

Key skill requirements:

* Has demonstrated competencies and leadership capabilities as a mature and seasoned Project Manager and is ready to undertake larger more complex efforts.

* Experience delivering projects using an agile methodology to a level that best practice can be shared within peer groups.

* Prince 2 (Agile) practitioner, APMP (or equivalent) with experience of taking nebulous or ambiguous objectives or vision and scoping these out into tangible, firm deliverables on large projects which could be delivering transformational business change.

* Knowledge of programme and PMO methodologies and extensive experience of applied project management methodology.

* Must demonstrate a high level of capability against the UK Change competencies.

* Must be flexible and adaptable with the ability to adapt to various ways of working within different types of projects

* Responds quickly and positively to changing priorities

* Must be challenging and innovative with the ability to challenge themselves to continuously improve and add value to the organisation.

* Must be able to undertake change in a pacier way and challenge the wider business, IT and Support Functions to identify and remove blockers that are stopping quick progress.

* Proven ability to establish and develop effective, lasting relationships.

* Experience of liaising with multiple stakeholder in a variety of business areas and stakeholders of differing seniority.

* Extensive evidence of identifying, managing and embedding lasting business change.

* Extensive experience of using MS Project for traditional projects or sprint planning methodologies for Agile projects

* Passionate in delivering customer excellence and actively keeps abreast of customer activity to build understanding.

* Challenges the status quo constructively. Communicates appropriately to everyone involved and affected by projects.

* Articulates a clear vision and objectives for others to align to.

* Willingly shares information and openly collaborates beyond own team.

* Educated to degree standard or equivalent.
