THE PACKAGE

Salary: ££ Competitive (starting salary will depend on qualifications and experience).

Other Benefits include: a 25% end of contract gratuity, a favourable tax regime, a relocation and flight package and 41 days annual leave per annum, (inclusive of public holidays)

Contract Type: 2 year fixed term appointment initially with the possibility of extension by mutual agreement.

THE POSITION

The Falkland Islands Government has secured significant funding of some £110m to deliver an ambitious capital programme over the next five years. Development & Commercial services is a key enabler to delivering major projects and key functions include Programme Management, Planning & Building Services, Procurement and the management of critical services such as Telecommunications, TV & Radio broadcast media, Government IT, Falkland Islands Government Air Services, Ferry & Coastal Shipping Services, Professional Services Framework Contract etc.

Reporting to the Director of Development and Commercial Services, your role will varied and must be able to support the Director in successfully delivering of all of the Directorates activities, budgets and public services. You will also be responsible for making sure that the department operates within the Government’s policies and strategies to achieve the objectives and performance standards set for it within the resources allocated. In addition you will take the lead on defined elements of the Government’s Corporate Development Programme and ensure the effective deployment of resources to assigned capital projects.

THE PERSON

We are looking for a highly motivated professional with a Civil Engineering, Surveying , General or Construction Management background who can demonstrate a strong track record of managing and delivering large-scale, high-profile, capital development projects to high standard within budget and agreed timescales using recognised project management approaches (eg PRINCE2). Experience of leading a Government Major Projects Portfolio (GMPP) would be advantageous.
