Trainee Information Security Analyst

Newcastle Upon Tyne

You will be responsible for ensuring the organisation adheres to good InfoSec practices, act as InfoSec triage for Security Tool alerts whilst ensuring defence in depth remains active. Alongside the technical security aspects of the role, the Security Analyst will be supported in areas of Governance, Risk & Compliance further developing their career and broadening their security knowledge.

This role would suit someone with a general IT background, but has worked in or wants to move into the InfoSec space.

Key Responsibilities

* Monitoring and maintaining the operational security dashboard within the organisation

* Maintaining security tools used in the proactive defence of the organisations systems - not sure it this is then or SecOps

* Undertake proactive monitoring of security tools, acting as triage by identifying anomalies, and carrying out 1st line analysis - ditto maybe 50/50 both of these have an overlap and that is fine

* Contributing to the Investigations of incidents and maintenance of remediation in line with the organisations incident response plan

* Able to work well with all levels of the business, to effectively, quickly and concisely convey complex security messages

* Assist the Information Security Manager to create, implement and maintain security controls and processes aligned to best practice such as ISO27001

* Maintain and write clear standards and technical security processes

* Assist mangers in the creation of executive reports and presentations

* Assist senior managers with training and awareness activities

* Undertake security assessments of projects and 3rd party vendors

Key Skills and Experience must haves

* An understanding of a wide range of security and monitoring tools including Sophos, DLP tools, Websense etc.

* An solid understanding of IT technologies including Hardware, Operating Systems, Applications, Networking, Authentication such as Active Directory etc.

* An understanding of cloud Security controls/settings in Azure

* A broad understanding of Operational Security

* A broad understanding of Office 365 security tools,

* Familiarity with MFA, MDM and vulnerability Management processes

* Familiarity with Incident Response/Management and InfoSec Triage
