Location: Manchester
Salary: £35,000 - £42,500 per annum

The Senior Developer role is an experienced technical expert development position, responsible for the development of applications within a self-managed team; for leading on team initiatives, coaching and for driving standards, improvements and innovation within that team.
The post holder is a senior member of the engineering team within the development department. They are responsible for contributing towards the realisation of the departments engineering strategic direction.
Job dimensions
Influences across a cross functional team of 5-7 people.
Works alongside a Business Analyst, Scrum Master, Project Manager and Solution Architect.
Works with other teams staff on related products and projects to understand and reduce impact of changes on those teams work.
Supports engineering staff within the team.
Responsible for the effectiveness of the team
Creates and maintains relationships with other teams within the business.
Responsible for the quality of line of business critical software used by the business, which may include financial transaction based information.
Skills & experience
Possess a degree level qualification or equivalent in software engineering or related discipline.
Familiar with agile software engineering methodologies and processes with a high level of experience defining and implementing software through the software development lifecycle.
5+ years experience in the software development industry.
Oversee the execution of engineering work streams and/or projects to quality and timeline in order to meet the demands of the business, stakeholders and customers alike
Maintain a high standard of engineering quality within the whole team. Review work by others in their team to ensure quality and consistency of all work.
Promote agile principles and practices whilst working with other developers, scrum masters, architects, business analysts and project managers within a multi-disciplined team.
Present technical solutions for review by various functions including technical architecture, business analysis & product management.
Lead innovation within their team to meet the changing demands of the business and emerging industry trends & standards, such as agile and lean techniques
Work proactively within the team, troubleshooting and resolving business critical challenges.
Assess and appraise team members
Provide expertise and guidance to a team, coaching and mentoring team members in agile software development principles and practices.
Line manage team members as appropriate
Identify & escalate skill, resource and equipment deficiencies within the team
Recommend and implement changes to tooling, process and practices.
