Major Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

* Understanding customer requirements and incorporating these into supplier selection and contracting activities.

* Managing procurement risk and opportunity scenarios.

* Identifying and exploiting procurement levers and optimising our costs through key supplier relationships.

* Engaging, developing and managing key supply partners for DST at local, national and international level.

* Conducting thorough 'through-life analysis' to inform purchasing decisions. Examining and communicating the impact that the supply chain may have on changing our value propositions.

* Managing the effective performance of our supply chain partners.

* Applying knowledge of international trade requirements to ensure DST remains compliant in international transactions.

Qualification/ Skills & Attributes:

* 7+ years' experience in a procurement environment.

* Good understanding of corporate governance and business ethics.

* In-depth knowledge of tendering processes, value propositions and supplier selection.

* Experience of managing local and international contracts throughout the life of a project.

* Excellent influencing skills, relationship-building, stakeholder management and interpersonal skills.

* Good knowledge of defence or engineering sectors.

* Capable of and comfortable with, instigating positive challenge to traditional ways of working.

* Ability to use a wide range of influencing styles in order to execute negotiation with third parties.

* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

* Strong stakeholder management capabilities.

* Ability to drive and demonstrate change.

* Degree (or equivalent) qualification;

* Membership of a relevant professional body e.g. CIPS, with professional qualification at level 5 or above (or equivalent).
