Technical Author
One of our clients, an award winning software company and certified Microsoft ® Gold development partner, is looking for a Technical Author to work closely with their Document Manager in their Customer Service Team in the Birmingham area.
Do you have experience in software documentation and have the ability to translate technical language into understandable terms for users? Are you looking for an opportunity to use your own initiative, network with multiple departments and take on an autonomous role?

As a Technical Author you will be required to:
* Create printed and electronic User and Resource Guides.
* Develop video tutorials, including script writing, recording audio, and screen-capturing.
* Checking consistency of terminology used in software and documentation, reporting software issues in development tracking system and raising issues about usability to software to project leaders and managers when necessary.
* Write Help system (delivered as CHM and HTML), giving in-depth information about the features of products using language appropriate for non-technical users.
* Liaising with software developers to resolve issues and gain a better understanding of the products
* Responding to testing feedback and updating the documentation accordingly
* Monitoring, taking part in and logging time spent on projects, team and one-to-one meetings, resolving issues in projects where possible or notifying managers of issues when necessary.
Technical Authors will ideally have exposure to:
* Software documentation
* Translating technical language into words users can understand.
* Copywriting and proofreading
* Content Management
In return for your skills my client is offering a salary of up to £26,000 and benefits including; free parking, generous pension, opportunities for progression and subsidised training.
