The challenge we have at Essex County Council is massive, the opportunity is even bigger. This is your chance to bring new and modern ways of doing things to one of the biggest county councils in the country, where you will be encouraged to share your ideas, experience and be at the heart of creating and delivering best fit solutions.

If the idea of being part of a team who is making a real difference to public service, and to the lives of the residents of Essex, appeals to you - then this is the place for you. You may currently be working outside of local government or even in the private sector but looking to showcase your skills on a larger stage and focussed on business performance which has a real impact on people’s lives.

The opportunity:

Joining us as HR & OD Performance Lead, you will make sure we are delivering our workforce strategy through a well-defined work programme to time, cost and quality. Your work will deliver outstanding people insight that improves our entire employee journey that disproves our assumptions, challenges our theories and ultimately changes the way we do things. You will look after the creation and delivery of our people related data and analytics through various reporting tools, enabling evidence based HR interventions. You will also ensure the effectiveness of our strategic deliverables by developing and managing reporting and impact assessments through a framework you design, measuring the success and effectiveness of OD and HR interventions. This role will have regular interaction with the ODP leadership team, being able to manage upwards and challenge where necessary.

About you:

You will have experience in a similar role developing strategic long-term plans, seeing projects through from conception to delivery, while also being able to get stuck in with the day-to-day requirements of working with data. It is essential that you have advanced Excel/VBA/SQL capability, MI tool extraction skills and project management/work programme management experience. Driven and resilient, you are a strong leader with a proven track record of managing stakeholders and a talent for creating outstanding visual insight for explaining complex data in a way that makes it easy to understand. You will have strong influencing skills and be able to critically evaluate the information you gather. You will be comfortable managing upwards and challenging our leadership team.
