Unix Team Lead

A brand-new opportunity for a Unix Team Lead has arisen, working for one of the industry's truly pioneering and most established software houses. The Unix Team Lead will ensure the companies Unix, Linux, VMware, IBM Power, Storage and related infrastructure is continually developed and running smoothly and securely.

The successful Unix Team Lead will work as part of and help lead a small expert team. Along this role is very hands on, your people leadership ability is the key attribute that will enable your success.

Key responsibilities for the Unix Team Lead:

* Collaborating with, leading, coaching, mentoring and developing a team of Unix / AIX / Linux / vSphere / IBM PSeries / NetApp platform experts

* Line management and personal development for a team of highly-technical engineers

* Helping to build effective agile team processes

* Identifying and addressing automation opportunities through scripting and 3rd party tools

* Creating and maintaining high-quality Runbook documentation

Skills required for the Unix Team Lead:

* Demonstrable experience of leading, managing, mentoring and motivating a technically focused team in an enterprise environment

* Deep knowledge of at least one of: Unix, Linux, Debian or Ubuntu

* Scripting ability and an overview of automation at scale

* A methodical and logical approach to problem solving with excellent written and verbal communication skills
