A great opportunity has now arisen for a Network Engineer to join the IT Team.

Strong Knowledge of Windows Networking, Active Directory, Firewalls. Cisco Networks
Good cyber essentials knowledge

Ability to articulate solutions to complex problems and provide clear advice
Strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to effectively contribute within a cross functional department.

Purpose
To provide the focus for Network architecture at BAS. Working as part of the IT Team to ensure our Infrastructure meets the needs of BAS and maintains the Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability of data.
Qualification
Relevant IT qualification. This could be either a degree or equivalent relevant experience.Other qualifications could include, eg CCNA, Network+
Duties
- Provide strategic guidance on networking architecture ensuring our infrastructure is secure and meets the needs of BAS.
- Manage and ensure the reliable, efficient and effective operation of the local and wide area network in Cambridge, Antarctica and ships and associated systems including, but not limited to, mobile and fixed telephony.
- Undertake and lead on network projects to complete specific tasks. Projects may include major hardware/software upgrades or commissioning of complex applications.
- Maintain and regularly review all the associated network active equipment, telephony hardware and software systems including application of upgrades, new systems/services and enhancements.
- Act as one of the points of contact within BAS for security incidents.
- Work across IT platforms and communication systems to provide security guidance as new platforms are introduced.
- Attend meetings as required including events within BAS and NERC. Represent BAS at IT forums.
- To keep abreast of emerging technologies and sharing knowledge with colleagues.
- Partake in developing and communicating the strategic direction of the department.
- Undertake other duties as appropriate as requested by the BAS Director and/or within the BAS IT department.
