Broadcast Engineer (Linux - 3rd Line Support)- West London with travel - Initial 3-month contract

Broadcast Engineer (Linux - 3rd Line Support) required to join a multinational technology company on an initial 3 month contract based in West London with the possibility of travel.

The client requires a Broadcast Engineer with strong digital broadcast/VOD/IP environment experience to join to work on a broadcasting and media project.

Experience

A successful candidate will need to be an experienced support engineer, with a strong focus on

Customer service. Suitable candidates must have the following skills:

* Digital Broadcast/CA/DRM/VOD system experience

* Proven support experience in a Linux/Oracle/IP environment

* Solid end-to-end troubleshooting skills

* Good relational database SQL skills

* Good Unix Shell scripting skills

* Good knowledge of applications running in a TCP/IP network environment

Responsibilities

* Provide proprietary application support at a major customer site.

* Rapid response to live system issues, ensuring that the customer is always kept up to date with the progress of any investigation, and responsible for providing a detailed resolution report, including any further required actions.

* Feedback detailed analysis of any software defects to the appropriate development team, including project management where required.

* Proficient and timely installations of the client's headend components for both live and test customer systems.

* Participate in new system deployments, and take on new solution responsibility, as well as sharing the knowledge within the group.

* Work within a shift rota to provide 24/7 on-call support escalation, and shifts within the extended support hours (07:00-19:00 Mon-Fri).
