Role: Senior Delivery Manager

Location: Newcastle

Duration: 6 Months

The Senior Delivery Manager will be accountable for effective delivery of complex, high-risk products and services. They will have strong communication skills and engage senior stakeholders and should have experience across a range of products and services, throughout the entire life cycle. The Delivery Manager will have greater responsibility and accountability as the main point of escalation and will coach and mentor Delivery Managers.

The Senior Delivery Manager will have expertise in the alignment of performance setting and assessment to the strategic plan, using operational-level market knowledge and given business imperatives as part of good governance within change and/or service delivery environments. Understands processes and procedures of performance management. Contributes to the organisation's IT/Information Systems plans, and business objectives. Demonstrates a responsible and disciplined approach, even under pressure. Understands the legal and best practice requirements of human resource management. Broadly skilled in information and communications technology and have a comprehensive knowledge of relevant systems development life-cycles.

The Senior Delivery Manager will be accountable for the successful delivery and ongoing support for a new generation of micro services being developed within the team, which will be reused by several new and re-engineered products being developed.

Skills and Knowledge Required;

* Coach and lead teams in Agile and lean practices. Is a recognised expert that advocates these approaches, continuously reflecting and challenging the team. Has a deep knowledge of and leads on a range of Agile and lean tools and techniques, with an ability to coach within and outside of their team. Able to represent and be an advocate for these tools and techniques, be innovative and ensure they keep up to date with the latest trends.

* Take responsibility for complex relationships with contracted suppliers. Able to identify appropriate contractual frameworks. Able to identify appropriate suppliers. Able to negotiate with contracted suppliers. Able to get good value out of contracts and suppliers. Able to engage in supplier management, understanding appropriate routes, outcomes and build collaborative relationships. Able to identify appropriate commercial frameworks and assess suppliers. Able to get good value out of people and external suppliers. Achieves best value from the contract.

* Mediate and mend relationships, communicating with stakeholders at all levels. Able to manage stakeholders' expectations and facilitate discussions across high risk and complexity or under constrained timescales.

* Negotiate, influence or set budgets in complex environments. Able to write or input into business cases and can communicate business value propositions. Able to support effective budget management within the constraints of the project. Retains a continued awareness of the budget against actual cost incurred.

* Apply experience of multiple parts of the lifecycle. Able to recognise when it is right to move forward and when it is right to stop. Able to recognise the appropriate deliverables and the right people to meet these. Able to work with other agile delivery operations throughout the product lifecycle.

* Optimise the delivery flow of teams. Able to actively address the most complicated risks, issues and dependencies including where ownership exists outside the team or no clear ownership exists. Able to identify innovative ways to unblock issues.

* Identify and challenge organisational processes of increasing complexity and those processes that are unnecessarily complicated. Able to add value and can coach the organisation to inspect and adapt processes.

* Lead a continual planning process in a very complex environment. Able to plan beyond product delivery. Able to identify dependencies in plans across services and coordinate delivery. Coaches other teams as the central point of expertise. Able to take a continuous approach to planning, forecasting, estimating, managing uncertainty, metrics and measurements, contingency and road mapping.

* Identify problems or issues in the team dynamic and rectify them. Able to pull out issues through agile health-checks with the team and provoke the right responses. Able to engage in varying types of feedback choosing the right type at the appropriate time and ensuring the discussion and decision sticks. Able to accelerate the team development cycle.
