Technical Application Support / Desk Developer - Asset Management - London - Contract - £350-450 p/d

Are you a very technical application support person who has done some desk development using Java who loves working with the traders and fund managers in the front office? Does solving business problems using software excite you? Then this could be the role for you!

This role is working for an asset manager who are currently one of the top 10 asset managers in the world based on Assets Under Management (AUM). They are currently looking for a technical application support analyst with strong Java development skills to come on work on their order, booking and position keeping applications. To support and develop these applications, you must be able to speak to the users and come up with solutions to their requirements. They predominantly trade FX and Equities but do have some more diverse strategies, so you will require an understanding of finance and how the trading world works.

With regards to technology… The ideal candidate will have around 3 years of application support for an asset manager, hedge fund or investment bank. You must have worked on and supported complex applications in the past where availability and up time is very important. Systems such as order booking, order management, position keeping etc. 95% of the tech in this company is built in house but any knowledge of software such as FXAll and FrontArena would be beneficial. These guys are looking for a person who can do some coding in Java in order to customise products to mat the PMs and trader's needs. On the database side of things, they use Oracle and Sybase. Also use TDD test-driven development and CI Continuous integration using Git and Maven.

Key points

* Strong application support experience in finical services. Asset manager, hedge fund of investment bank

* Strong business knowledge around FX and Equities

* Strong knowledge of supporting booking, order and position keeping applications

* Knowledge of Oracle, Sybase or SQL

* Good knowledge of executing and booking trades

* Strong exposure to dealing with users in the front offering and translating their requirements into applications
