Salary: £55k Base

AWS Cloud Engineer - Big Data (Redshift, EC2, S3, Hadoop, Lambda, etc.)

We are seeking a motivated and experienced AWS Cloud Engineer with experience with databases to join our cloud infrastructure support team. In this role you will support both legacy databases running on physical servers and newer databases running in AWS. You will be a key member of a small team in migrating legacy databases into the cloud.

Responsibilities

* Deploy, maintain, and monitor server instances

* Develop, manage, and test database backup and recovery strategies, verifying data integrity

* Perform database installations, configurations, upgrades, and migrations

* Resolve incidents, issues, and problems, alone and through collaboration with other team members

* Improve monitoring, perform database capacity and usage planning

* Perform routine scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and participate in on-call support rotation

* Ensure all production incidents are recorded timely and accurately; communicate state of production to management

* Implement, document, and maintain database practices

* Assist with support documentation, and provide input into standard operation procedures

Qualifications

* Respectable experience, including experience working with off-shore staff and in a 24/7 production support environment

* Experience as a technical lead, experience designing enterprise architecture

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field

* Extensive experience with AWS (VPC, ELB, EC2, S3, RDS) required; Microservice related skills such as API gateway, Lambda, and Docker are a plus

* Database knowledge: Oracle and Redshift required, Aurora, DynamoDB, Teradata are a plus

* Backup, DR, fault tolerance skills are mandatory; authentication (SAML2, Oauth, and Microstrategy) are a plus.

* Windows, Linux, Unix

* Effective interpersonal skills as well as excellent written and verbal communications

* Ability to work independently and in a team environment

* Ability to work under time pressure while maintaining a customer service attitude

* Self-motivated with attention to detail
