Senior Collections Specialist - London - 6-month contract

Senior Collections Specialist required to join a telecommunications client based in London on a 6- month contract.

General Summary:

* Act as team lead to collections staff that handle portfolios of customer accounts in order to minimise the company's exposure to credit risk.

* Handle most strategic, complex, and high-risk accounts, and act as first point of escalation within the team.

* Supervise the team in the absence of manager.

Essential Duties

You will be required to:

* Lead ad hoc reporting analysis and help assign tasks to collections team.

* Provide guidance to collections team as they proactively identify aging receivables, initiate and conduct all collection activities for accounts within assigned customer portfolios, from initial customer contact to collection of funds or write off.

* Be the point of escalation to negotiate payment terms to reduce outstanding receivables, and suspend delinquent accounts if necessary.

* Perform detailed reconciliation to the most complex accounts as needed to resolve and bring about closure on any and all disputed receivables.

* Escalate customer disputes and collection issues to management as needed.

* Apply cash received as necessary in a timely manner.

* Re-apply cash as necessary per customer request.

Education - Education Level: A Levels (UK). Field of Study: Accounting, Finance, or similar.

Other Job Requirements

* Prefer a degree in accounting or finance.

* In-depth experience in collections.

* Knowledge of telecom terminology.

* Familiar with methods of accounts receivable collection. Windows navigation; Excel and Word.

* Strong interpersonal and negotiating skills; ability to influence others while maintaining a working relationship.

* Ability to build solid working relationships across divisions/functions.

* Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to describe invoicing or reconciliation situations so that a customer unfamiliar with company's systems or procedures can understand; ability to communicate complex concepts and processes in an easy to understand manner.

* Strong organisational skills; ability to manage personal time to complete work by system or services deadlines; ability to manage multiple tasks/account work simultaneously.

* Demonstrated ability to manage small projects from beginning to end.

* Planning/analysis skills for establishing project length, performance measures, and for developing action plans.
