Cloud Lead - AWS

Salary: DOE + Extensive Benefits Package 

SSP is a global provider of technology systems and solutions across the entire insurance industry. We provide core technology solutions, distribution and trading capability, advanced analytics and solution delivery. 

We are creating a new Cloud Team within our Managed Services and a great opportunity for a Lead to join SSP who wants to further their career and help shape the new Cloud environment. The Cloud Lead will be based in Solihull and lead a team of 7 Cloud Engineers but work across a team of 21 across Managed Services. 

The purpose of the Cloud Lead will be - 

To manage staff and lead a technical team within Managed Services supporting and developing SSP’s Cloud hosting infrastructure. Self-motivated, infrastructure focused individual with a passion for enabling internal teams and external clients to migrate and adopt cloud successfully 

We’d like to meet a Cloud Lead with - 

- Broad Cloud infrastructure experience with a particular interest in AWS 

- Leadership experience in performing 1-2-1s and annual reviews and setting objectives 

- Strong willingness to own and see the successful implementation of cloud solutions within the business 

- Inspire a high level of automation within the platform, leading by example and fostering the use of industry standard automation techniques 

As the Cloud Lead, Your Responsibilities & Accountabilities Include - 

- Leadership and management of the Cloud team within Managed Services. 

- People management skills, perform 1-2-1s and annual reviews, involvement in objective setting. Ability to coach, mentor and develop staff 

- Staff management including perform 1-2-1s and annual reviews, involvement in objective setting. 

- Experience in either a cloud or infrastructure Solution Architectural role with a 

- Experience, ideally backed by certifications, in architecting solutions using the AWS cloud platform 

- Ability to inspire a high level of automation within the platform, leading by example and fostering the use of industry standard automation techniques 

- Desire to nurture a cloud first mind-set internally and with our clients to help drive cloud adoption and accelerate our journey from on premise data centres to a cloud model 

- Lead from an infrastructure perspective the migration of our applications by working with our application specialist teams, project teams and sales colleges. Having the ability to develop and implement process and workflow changes that align with our published target operating model 

- Have a positive, collaborative and open communication style and a willingness and ability to work with customers and internal teams including the ability to overcome setbacks and technical challenges that are part of migration of complex applications to the cloud 

- Ability to run internal migration projects in cloud adoption including running technical workshops and helping teams to produce technical documentation as outputs of these so you will need a solid understanding of application architecture as well as cloud options 

- Demonstrable experience, ideally to SME level, of the following: multi zone availability design, multi-tier application infrastructure and the basic infrastructure components (storage, networking, compute, DR etc.) that make these solutions available and resilient 

- Excellent written and presentation skills including producing cloud solution design, standards and process documentation with the ability to mentor within the cloud team on technical and cloud design and provide 3rd level support and troubleshooting expertise 

- To undertake any other duties commensurate with the grading of the post as may be instructed by management 

- This role will be part of a team providing 24 x 7 support to SSP’s Hosting Environment
