End User Computing Technical Design Lead required for a leading client in Basingstoke

The End User Computing Technical Design Lead will ensure that all designs for End User Compute are completed to an industry best standard and those set out by Enterprise Architecture (EA). They will also be responsible for developing the functionality of the desktop environment (including mobile) to meet the functional needs of the business, leveraging the significant investment in Office/365 and other desktop technologies.

Role Specific Responsibilities & Accountabilities

'€¢Translate an existing high-level design (HLD) or other provided documentation from Solution Architecture, to produce a corresponding End User design (which may be a physical implementation or configuring services from a 3rd party provider), while advising on implementation and operational implications.

'€¢Produce infrastructure designs that align to EA standards, and meet agreed quality review standards, ensuring that all designs take account of currently available / reusable capacity as well as specifying new infrastructure or desktop/mobile devices or services

'€¢Collaborative engagement with Solution Architects & PM's to identify the right infrastructure & services at the right cost / ROI for the project being designed

'€¢Review and feedback on architectural objectives for solutions proposed

'€¢Review new end user technologies and how these would interact with existing support processes and infrastructure

'€¢Ensure presented documentation conforms to operations minimal requirements for successful implementation and support including functionality, user experience, resilience, supportability & scalability

'€¢Liaise with approved suppliers to provide resourcing and infrastructure costs

'€¢Keep up to date with current technologies and solutions within the IT market place

'€¢Work with the End User Project delivery manager to advise on the potential resource (internal or 3rd party) that may be required to implement the right solution

'€¢Act as an escalation point for the outsourced L2-4 desktop support providers & deskside teams

'€¢Design and develop a constant technology design roadmap for end user

'€¢Support the development of the end user monitoring strategy & tools

Capability, Knowledge and Experience:

'€¢A minimum of 5 years experiencing working as a senior technical expert in the following fields:

'€¢Office/365 and Exchange

'€¢Active Directory & SCCM

'€¢Mobile Device Management and integration

'€¢Device deployment & refresh

'€¢Ideally Desktop security / identity technologies

'€¢BYOD technologies & policies

'€¢Other areas beneficial areas of experience include:

'€¢Sharepoint and other collaboration technologies

'€¢Good understanding of End User Voice technologies (VoIP)

'€¢Good understanding of cloud (eg Azure)

'€¢Demonstrate effective communication, both orally and in writing, with subordinates, colleagues, clients and customers at all levels, both formally and informally - a strong communicator who develops relationships for mutual gain.

'€¢Take initiative to keep own skills up to date and maintain awareness of developments in the IT industry.

'€¢Extensive knowledge of analytic techniques and methods and problem-solving skills

'€¢Experience of the regulatory and audit requirements within an operational environment

'€¢Sound End User infrastructure design experience in a technology organisation with history of delivering scalable, resilient data & voice networks

'€¢Comfortable working with senior staff, both business and IT

'€¢Experience of working with outsource partners and delivering solutions into support

'€¢Have demonstrable documentation skills

'€¢Awareness of project management methodologies, e.g. RUP, CMMi, Prince II, PMI

'€¢Visibility of software development methodologies, e.g. waterfall, agile

'€¢Experience of working with business and technology stakeholders
