Network Engineer

Spring Technology's client, a public sector organisation, are currently looking to recruit a Network Engineer for an initial 6 month contract on a rate of c.£400/day (outside of IR35) based in Edinburgh.

Responsibilities:

* Managing network platform health, availability, integrity and currency to an acceptable level.

* Monitor, manage and where necessary improve performance of network and platform to meet the expectations of the end-users.

* Taking active part in the team's and department's Agile culture by learning and putting into practice the VFQ disciplines.

* Managing workloads using Kanban techniques and/or other team defined methodologies.

* Work with multi-skilled DevOps teams where skills allow and the need arises.

* Work closely with design authority, PMO representatives, the test team and developers.

* Create and maintain system and network documentation as appropriate (e.g. MS Visio diagrams, system admin docs and local work instructions).

* Troubleshoot and resolve any network and platform related issues.

Requirements:

* Knowledge and experience of Agile working, including such disciplines as Kanban, feedback, retrospectives, VFQ.

* Expertise knowledge in Cisco and Checkpoint technologies.

* Networking experience of the following: Cisco routing & switching, common design topologies for layer 2 / layer 3 services, checkpoint / ASA Firewall. administration, experience with Nexus product line, RSA 2 Factor authentication.

* Strong knowledge of OSPF design along with performance tuning.

* Strong knowledge of BGP design and operational management

* Expertise with data centre management and best practices.

* Experience of designing and leading infrastructure projects.

* Certified to CCNP.
