I am recruiting for a Senior Linux Platform engineer for our client in Cardiff, this is an initial 6 month contract with the possibility of extension. Starting ASAP. (Rate circa £400- probably more based on relevant experience)

Their IT services are seeking a candidate to transform the current LINUX engineering role into a multi-skilled, multi-platform, Cloud enabled discipline. Introducing high levels of automation and flexibility to the infrastructure that supports the business.

Working as part of the Server and Storage team, you will be responsible for the management and support of the Linux server estate running Redhat Linux on a combination of HCI hardware platforms and physical hardware. Responsibilities include operating system installation and maintenance, storage management, capacity, availability and performance management, and providing expert-level support to the wider ITS department.

Key technologies they are looking for:

* Highly developed skills around virtualisation platforms preferably with certification in Vmware vSphere technologies.

* Experience of working with cloud based infrastructure services. (Private/Public/Hybrid)

* Delivering fully optimised managed environments which are highly automated.

* Ability to operate with the Redhat based management tools focused around the Redhat Satellite Server v6 product set.

* Patch management.

* Capacity reporting.

* Experience of Linux networking (virtual and physical), Dell-EMC Storage and Oracle.

* Fluent written and spoken English is essential. Knowledge of another major European language would be an advantage.

* Coaching and communication skills.

* Able to demonstrate an awareness of future technologies and applying solutions to meet business requirements.

* Experience of working with DevOps toolsets e.g JIRA, Confluence, Github/Gitlab.
