Graduate Service Improvement Consultant Direct Entry Graduate

NATS Service Improvement, as part of the Service Strategy & Transformation directorate, has a vacancy for a Graduate Service Improvement Consultant. This is a development role where the post holder will have the opportunity to learn the various improvement and change methodologies being applied whilst gaining experience in multiple aspects of this complex business.

Initially the role will be fully supported by an experienced consultant however the post holder will quickly be responsible for their own projects, diagnosing issues, presenting compelling analysis to senior management and implementing solutions.

Principle Accountabilities

* Self study the 'NATS Improvement' eLearning course as an introduction to the Lean Six Sigma methodology practiced by the department. This course will provide you with awareness level knowledge of our common sense methodology and structured approach to problem solving and improvement. During this study you will be supported and mentored by an experienced consultant

* This certification will help develop your business improvement and change management capabilities and the ability to bring them to bear across a wide range of business domains for the benefit of NATS

* Under mentorship from a senior improvement team member you will be expected to complete a Lean improvement project (based on your self-study) certifiable to a NATS green belt standard. A suitable project will be chosen that can reasonably be completed within ~6 months and will make you eligible for a NATS green belt improvement certification.

* Assist the department in providing a consultancy service across the business to support the identification, development and delivery of innovative solutions that optimise service performance and value for money

* Develop relationships with key business stakeholders to support the business in pro-actively identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing suitable solutions

Qualifications and Skills

* A good honours degree acquired in a relevant topic

* Well-developed communications, influencing and negotiating skills

* Respectful yet challenging approach enabling key stakeholders to prioritise work amongst their already busy workloads

* An aptitude for business transformation with instances of developing and implementing innovative solutions

* Strong analytical thinking skills; able to quickly discern the wood from the trees, keep the complex simple, able to communicate very well in writing and verbally at all levels of the organisation

* Good numerical capability to enable data to be presented in a factual yet understandable manner

* Collaborative working style with a clear and relentless focus on delivering outcomes, whilst ensuring that individuals are taken along the journey

* Keen to develop themselves and others with a track record of demonstrating improvement and resilience to overcome obstacles
