We’re looking for a head of internal systems to join our technology team. You’ll be responsible for designing, developing and cultivating the systems that we use, including which systems are best suited to our needs, how they integrate with each other, and how they deliver an effective service to the user.

The best thing about this role is the opportunity to craft the vision for how our internal applications can be used to help support our teams in their day to day roles. As well as our core IT systems, this will include CRM, workflow, communications, telephony and other tools to support our people.

You’ll lead our infrastructure and security teams and will have accountability for defining and overseeing the development of the system architecture, as well as managing the change associated with all system improvements.

You'll also be accountable for:

interpreting the technical/architectural roadmap for internal applications, aligned to our technical strategy and requirements, and influence the delivery of this roadmap

providing a world-class technology service to our people, by coaching your team to understand what good looks like

internal infrastructure, including servers, networking, end user computing, as well as oversight of cyber security, business continuity processes and vendor management

all things budget related to internal systems and infrastructure

A bit about you

Your friends would probably describe you as someone who loves to solve difficult puzzles. You’re the person who can always imagine a different way to do something and you make it happen. You will be happiest when working as part of a team to deliver a phenomenal user experience. There is lots of variety in this role and it means wearing many hats and working on a collection of projects at any one time to allow us to deliver real business outcomes, at pace, in an ever-changing environment.

You'll love to work with smart people and hate mediocrity; you know there is almost always a better way of doing things even if it can't be delivered immediately. Smaller teams, constantly learning, being challenged, having your own chunk of responsibility and being trusted to make it happen describe in a nutshell the environment you really thrive in. You want to be part of a collaborative culture where you feel empowered but always know you'll never be left alone.

We've always placed more importance on values alignment above technical ability but in this role, we'd really like you to have:

experience of leading and developing technical IT teams

familiarity of systems innovation and in increasing adoption rates usage across IT systems

an ability to know what a great user experience looks like and how to deliver this through your team

an appreciation of the software and product development lifecycle

experience of working in agile development environments

great leadership skills and be able to bring your team on the journey with you

confidence in presenting reasoned analysis, choices and recommendations to the senior team
