Role - Java Software Engineer

Location - Leeds, West Yorkshire

Duration - 5 months

Rate - £500-£525 per day

My client requires software developers with strong technology domain experience, and ability to tackle challenging technical problems. You will be working on exciting projects, working as part of a larger project team. You will be expected to effectively and efficiently design and develop software applications to the high quality that is expected from all projects.

Key Responsibilities:

*Software development on client projects

*Respond to client requests, anticipating and meeting client problems and needs using innovative approaches when applicable.

*Deliver high quality work to meet client expectations and project deadlines.

*Involvement in all aspects of the development life cycle.

*Share knowledge with colleagues and assist team members with their objectives.

*Respond to, and resolve, technical issues.

*Work alongside clients or directly for client personnel.

*Contribute to improve software development approaches and quality of deliverables.

*Report progress to manager, highlighting issues before they become a problem.

What we are looking for:

*Solid Java experience in either: Java J2EE or Spring development; experience of server-side Java is essential.

*Experience of relational and NoSQL database preferably SQLServer, MySQL and ElasticSearch and operating system Linux or UNIX.

*Full development life cycle experience.

*Capable of working to strict deadlines.

*Demonstrable knowledge of a software development methodology and structured approaches to development.

*Comfortable working under own initiative or as part of a rapidly growing software development team

Other Desirable Skills & Experience:

*Full stack development experience; server-side Scala experience;

*Parquet file format, json, REST interfaces, Micro Services architecture

*Experience with Hadoop, spark and HDFS

*Experience with Agile, Continuous integration, and continuous deployment pipelines, including a DevOps methodology is desirable

*Sun Certified Programmer and/or Developer would be an advantage
