Due to a period of sustained success, our Shrivenham-based client are now looking to expand their team and have a great opportunity for an Infrastructure Engineer to join them on a permanent basis. The ideal Infrastructure Engineer candidate will need experience in actively managing and troubleshooting backup systems and storage infrastructure. Although wider experience such as VMWare and Server support (Windows and Linux) is required, the Infrastructure Engineer role does have an enterprise backup and storage focus with Dell EMC and Veeam being among the main technologies used.
This Infrastructure Engineer opportunity is an exciting chance to join an established and growing MSP with a strong commitment to training and developing their staff!
The main Duties and Responsibilities of the Infrastructure Engineer include:
Support and troubleshooting of backup systems across multiple platforms in remote environments.
Maintaining and configuring storage hardware
Interpreting customer requirements to document and implement an appropriate backup schedule.
Management of associated virtualisation environments
Resolution of reported faults escalated by the Service Desk to 2nd Line Support within defined SLAs.
Ensuring all actions carried out on issues and incidents are recorded accurately in the Service Management toolset.
The deployment of both standard and complex changes to the customers’ infrastructures
Managing test and rollout of security patches, software upgrades, and new software applications.
Participate in project work on new system implementations and changes arising from continuous service improvement plans
Investigating opportunities to improve effectiveness and efficiency
The development of technical procedures that can be operated and managed by the entire Support team.
Essential Skills and Experience required by the Infrastructure Engineer:
Must have live production experience in:
Enterprise backup solutions (EMC Networker and Veeam Enterprise)
Dell EMC storage (VNX, Unity, and Data Domain systems)
Brocade Fibre Channel switches
VMware ESX and vCenter
Server OS support (Windows and/or Linux)
The following Skills and Experiecne are desired:
Windows Server 2008/2012 AD environment
Linux (RHEL and CentOS)
Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) 2012
Microsoft Exchange Server 2010/2013
Microsoft SharePoint 2013
AV Products (e.g. McAfee EPO and Sophos)
Remedy Service management tool
SolarWinds (NPM/NCM/SAM)
Aruba wireless
Based near Swindon, the office is easily commutable from Oxford, Witney, Swindon, Shrivenham, Farringdon, Cirencester, Newbury, Reading and many others.
