The Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) is a non-departmental public body sponsored by the Home Office. We provide information to employers and other organisations in England and Wales (and barring information only in Northern Ireland) so they can make informed recruitment and licensing decisions, especially for employees and volunteers working with vulnerable groups. We also determine whether an individual can take up relevant posts by making decisions about inclusion on a barred list.

As G7 Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that the project is well defined and managed to achieve delivery of business benefits to time, cost, scope and quality. This will mean establishing and implementing project management governance including quality assurance. You will develop robust plans, identify and manage risk, apply change control and manage teams through the project lifecycle. In addition to project responsibilities, you will have a corporate line management role and will help develop and support the Directorate team, demonstrating leadership skills and behaviours in line with Civil Service standards and maintaining the highest levels of professional integrity.

Key accountabilities will include:

Lead new or existing change projects across all stages of the project lifecycle and providing project management expertise to support DBS in delivering successful change.

Produce and evaluate business cases for projects or changes to support investment decisions and achieve value for money.

Manage relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external. This will require the Project Manager to engage with senior leadership, suppliers and the project team.

Develop project plans and establish budgets, resource forecasts and skill needs and track and report the project against the project baseline.

Actively engage with subject matter experts and corporate colleagues in areas such as Finance, Commercial, HR and Policy

Essential skills/qualifications:

Be qualified to PRINCE2 Practitioner Level, or certified with an equivalent project management qualification.

Be able to demonstrate experience of successfully delivering change projects including both technical and business change, incorporating project management discipline.

Have experience working with and managing key stakeholders, including external suppliers.

Have managed teams and individuals both in delivering projects and with respect to corporate line management.

Have the ability to deal with complexity, managing issues to resolution and making effective decisions.

Deliver clear and effective communications (written and verbal) to senior and mixed audiences.
