Linux Senior Engineer - in-house consultancy

As a member of the Infrastructure Automation Services team, you will work among a team of technical experts and cloud architect evangelists, focused on implementing IT infrastructure best practices to empower development through self-service tools and services.

You will play a key role in the design, development, and deployment of their cloud infrastructure, automation, and services used to build and manage our ODC products, in the public cloud.

You will be at the forefront of supporting and designing their next generation infrastructure and applications. Using industry best practices and innovative approaches, you and your team will aim to provide high-performance, scalable, secure, and resilient systems to enable the product development teams and their big data products and services..

What do I need

* Must be able to demonstrate Linux platform experience with things like CentOS, Redhat and Ubuntu

* Experience and management of infrastructure with Puppet and Hiera

* AWS experience, including but not limited to EC2, RDS, ElastiCache, S3, Auto Scale, ELB, Kinesis, Lambda

* Nice to have exposure in configuring and managing AWS EC2 environments

Tasks on Start Up Project

* Linux platform administration with Ubuntu, CentOS and Redhat

* Deploy and support high-performance, highly-available infrastructure on Puppet Enterprise

* Engage in detailed planning, change control and through testing to ensure performance, availability and stability

* Configure and support middleware and webserver software on Linux platforms such as Apache and MySQL

* troubleshooting Incidents on Linux systems, along with security related activities - system hardening, patching, mitigation and vulnerability threat management.

* Configure and support system monitoring and management tools such as Xymon & Zabbix,

* Writing and maintaining Shell and/or python scripts.

Bonus Points

* Nice to have exposure in configuring and managing AWS EC2 environments

* Experience LDAP, SSSD and Kerberos

* Experience and management of infrastructure with Puppet Enterprise, Source control management and Git Repositories

* Working as part of a wider department general IT knowledge is a benefit

* Knowledge the dev/ops culture

* A Passion or respected experience in team leadership as a possible future development in the role

* Understanding and experience of working with the ITIL framework
