Mechanical Design Engineer

I am looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer with a minimum of 5 years professional working experience to be part of my clients R&D Design Group based in Edinburgh.

My client primarily target the consumer electronics market with applications in mobile phones, portable equipment ie laptops, tablets.

The Role

This role requires detailed Mechanical design of integrated circuit packaging suitable for use in Time of flight (TOF) systems.

* Mechanical Design for electro-optical modules for TOF applications.

* Detailed 3D modelling and 2D drawing.

* Design for high volume manufacture with process tolerances and design for automated assembly.

* Verification of Mechanical designs with suitable metrology and characterisation methods.

* Reviewing of FEA and CFD reports.

Candidate qualification

* Degree in Mechanical Engineering

* Experienced in Solidworks or similar

* DFMEA and SPC techniques

* FEA and CFD analysis techniques

* Tolerance analysis of designs to suit manufacturing processes

* Thermal Analsysis

* Material science - Thermosets/plastics
