Your Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a Systems engineer to join our growing team in Hemel Hempstead. This is a varied role with a fast-paced environment, providing support for our Managed Service customers, you will be delivering pro-active specialist business support across a range of bespoke, complex and managed hosted solutions, in line with agreed SLAs.
Responsibilities:
* Support and administer the Management, monitoring and access management servers in use in KCOM Managed Services
* Deputise for the Operational Support Specialist (OSS) Manager where required and on an ongoing basis
* Schedule and perform system administration duties to multiple OSS systems
* Maintain all server operating systems in line with current security practices
* Set up the management system for new customer transitions
* Maintain accurate and up to date records of information necessary to operate the managed services environment
* Liaise with customers where necessary to resolve questions or queries in relation to OSS or service offering
* Create and update OSS support documentation for operational running.
* Test and sign-off new OSS product roll outs to ensure the operational effectiveness is met within the business
* Perform software upgrades on commercially available software in use in KCOM Managed Services
* Assist incident and change teams with questions, queries and problems related to the management systems
Essential Skills and Experience:
* 3 years'+ experience in network monitoring and management
* Strong knowledge and experience of Microsoft Windows and major Linux operating systems
* Strong skills in Unix & Windows system administration
* Current UK driving licence
* Knowledgeable of BS7799 and PSN IL2 security requirements
* Comprehensive understanding of relevant & prevailing operating systems
* Understanding of database technologies and Network Management technologies
* Strong understanding of SNMP
* Good working knowledge of good security practices
* Process Management/Control and Customer Relationship Management (business to business)

What are my hours of work?
You'll be working 37.5 hours per week, plus on-call 1 in every 5 weeks. Flexibility to work from home for a portion of the week.
