Our thriving Leeds office is looking for a self-motivated systems engineer to work within the global firmwide Technology department. This position is responsible for providing the Firm with day-to-day and strategic IT services, support, development, implementation and planning for a range of applications covering desktop services, back-office applications and practice management.
Our Team
You will report in to the Infrastructure Systems Manager and will provide technical support services to the IT teams, business end-users, and IT Managers. You will be responsible for ensuring effective technical resolution, knowledge transfer and skills development exists at all levels across the Technology team.
Our Opportunity
You will be responsible for the infrastructure and the life cycle of platforms throughout the firm. This includes the design, commissioning, ongoing maintenance, issue resolution and change control whilst ensuring the designated platforms have sufficient capacity, performs as required and is readily available throughout the platforms existence.
You will demonstrate technical leadership across a broad range of technology areas, providing best practice implementation of the technology utilised throughout the firm. In addition to establishing and executing internal infrastructure roadmaps, you will interact with other members of the engineering team to ensure proactive capacity planning, appropriate contingency/recovery plans and associated standards are in place and maintained accordingly.
You
You will be experienced in server and network administration within a WINTEL environment, ideally within the legal sector. Due to the technical nature of this role, you will have expert knowledge of Microsoft Server 2008 through 2012R2 server operating systems and associated network services including but not limited to DHCP, DNS, DFS and WDS and have experience of commissioning, support and configuration of Citrix environment’s utilising XenApp, XenDesktop, Presentation Server, Client Access Gateways.
Additionally, you will have a good level of understanding on LAN/WAN Topology and associated infrastructure elements. Knowledge of SAN administration from Netapp or Hitachi vendors and of the ITIL Framework is advantageous.
You will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team. You must also have excellent decision-making skills with the ability to make decisions at the appropriate time, taking into account the needs of the situation, priorities, constraints and the availability of necessary information.
