Product Design Lead, Public Sector (OUTSIDE IR35), Various Locations- base location either: Ideally London with significant travel to Blackpool, Newcastle, Leeds / Sheffield and Manchester, 6+ Months

Product Design Lead required to support the Head of Digital Delivery to set up the Product Design Practice. Able to direct a team of business analysts, user researchers and Product Owners with ability to build credible senior relationships and undertake knowledge transfer when permanent position filled. The role's outside IR35.

The Role

* Support the Head of Digital Delivery to set up and lead the Product Design Practice, setting contemporary product design standards and working practices.

* Work with counterparts to build cross-community ways of working, support organisation's strategy to increase digital capability and assure delivery of digital services; providing direction and coaching.

* Work with Practice Leads (across other Digital hubs) to develop a deep understanding of customer needs both now and in the future, and define strategic, longer-term view of service demand.

* Undertake effective knowledge transfer to permanent position when filled.

Key Skills / Experience

* Understand Business Strategy.

* Ability to define requirements standards and quality targets for an organisation in agreement with key stakeholders.

* Be able to work with other Service Practice Leads and Heads of Practice to build cross-community ways of working to support delivery priorities and effectively deliver common goals.

* Undertake effective transfer knowledge to permanent position when filled.

* Able to advise on tools and methods to be used to communicate the user experience.

* An expert in understanding the strengths and limitations of different methods who is sought out by peers for advice on research planning.

* Excellent leadership skills. Play a significant role in shaping and developing the capability of product owners across the organisation, with experience leading multiple product teams.

* Have substantial experience of engaging multidisciplinary teams with a user-centred design process, and explaining design decisions and other ideas in a way that other people understand.

* Have demonstrable experience of managing a team of individuals from at least one of these disciplines: Service Design, Business Analysis, Interaction/content/front-end design, User Research and Product Ownership.

* Able to direct a team of business analysts, user researchers and Product Owners, with an ability to build credible relationships at senior levels within a complex organisation.

* Identifies both functional and non-functional requirements and prioritises high level and detailed requirements and user stories.

* BCS International Diploma in Business Analysis

* Experience in working in wide range of Project Environments specifically Agile with an understanding of the different approaches, for example Scrum, XP, DSDM.

* Previous experience within government services.

* Previous experience of taking a service live, delivering continuous improvement.
