Job title: Oracle DBA with Spatial -3 year daily rate - Dublin, Ireland

Length: 36 month contract, (3 years), there is a 12 month extension possible after this.

Role titles, rate/salary and days per week:

Oracle DBA with Spatial is EUR80,500/350e per day

Start date: 13th of August 2018

Public Sector Body Information:

This public sector body has an internal base of 300 users of IT systems in multiple locations around Ireland. There is flexible working from 8am to 7pm and the core goal of this Public Sector body to ensure regulations are followed within their domain. There is 12 on the team, of which 7 are contractors.

The Public Sector body (PSB) hosts bespoke systems, currently hosted on a complex Oracle/J2EE clustered environment utilizing VMWare and Windows Server 2003/2008/2012 O/S. There is a mixture of structured, document and spatial data. ESRI's version 10 ArcGIS Desktop and Server suite are used to generate spatial data and the PSB utilises viewers for the consumption of data. Applications are both internal and internet facing and an understanding of the complexities of a secure clustered environment is required, alongside a good working knowledge of virtualization techniques.

In addition, the team is responsible for maintaining and supporting at an environmental level several key internal systems; including but not limited to financial applications, GIS systems and integration between several applications, both bespoke and third-party. The successful candidate will be required to work as part of the team consisting of a GIS Administrator, a SharePoint/Web Developer, a DBA with Spatial Expertise, a Java Developer, a .NET Specialist and a Systems Business Analyst.

Your duties will be:

* Act as the database (but not necessarily the database design) authority

* Implement updates and maintain revisions to logical and physical models in distributed development environments

* Liaise with Oracle customer service and technical support as necessary

* Design, development, tuning and maintenance of packages and procedures in both Oracle and Oracle Spatial

* Manage database security including access control and backup / restoration

* Administer corporate and sectoral databases across development, UAT, pre-live and live environments

* Ensure compliance with Oracle licence agreement

* Assist with the management of the PSB's GIS resources, including database integration where required

* Provide expert technical advice and support to Java development teams and analysts interfacing to PL/SQL and Oracle

* Troubleshoot issues within a J2EE Development environment interfacing to GIS technologies and Oracle/Oracle Spatial

* Database monitoring and performance optimisation

* Tuning and Optimising Oracle and Oracle Spatial queries

* Data and Spatial Data loading

* Remote management of database services

Skillsets:

Mandatory

* Oracle 10g or higher on Windows system

* Data modelling and design

* SQL tuning and optimisation

* Experience with Standby systems,

* SQL, PL/SQL

* Working in Virtualised environments

* Implementation and utilisation of Oracle Spatial and ESRI's ArcSDE toolset.

* Oracle Application server

Desirable

* Previous experience working with Public Sector

* Oracle based Financial Management Systems (FMS)
