As the Service Lead Security Architect for Shared Services you will have a unique opportunity to help ensure the safety and security of our cross-government digital services.You will be responsible for the security architecture and solutions of the services that the Central Government organisation jointly builds with other government departments, aiming to deliver security-oriented services and tools that are designed to be shared across government to help them transform safely and securely. In doing this you will help to discover what security-oriented services are needed and identify where opportunities for practical shared delivery exist, then work on understanding cross-government needs and collaborate with the delivery teams to design and build services that target this cross-government need, often balancing local needs and priorities against wider strategic ones.

Skills and experience

It is essential that you have the following skills and experience:

* Acted as a 'hands-on' security consultant with a wide range of digital / cloud delivery projects

* Expert in cloud and enterprise security architecture, security technologies, standards and industry best practice for high volume, highly scalable and shared solutions (including SaaS, PaaS, IaaS)

* Experience of designing and delivering secure digital services within cloud environments, including integration with external services and managing the security issues that ensue

* Consistent track record of delivering security architecture and solutions on time and to budget

* Worked at a strategic level to influence decisions and investment

* Worked on delivery projects using iterative delivery techniques across the full agile development lifecycle

* Worked collaboratively with a wide range of technology and service / business architecture and security professionals and agile teams

* An understanding of security and risk management, including those relating to agile processes

* Analysed security needs for large-scale, mission-critical digital services

* A solid background in understanding how cyber attacks and cyber fraud are practically carried out against cloud-based digital services, and of mitigating strategies and solutions (including practical knowledge of best practice e.g. SANS, etc)

* Designed and delivered shared services, especially relating to security, transactional risk management, and counter-fraud

* Designed and delivered secure API / web service / B2B services

* Strategies to protect and defend mission critical middle / back-tier services and data from successful web-tier exploits

* Digital service strategies and solutions for protecting and managing incoming, stored, back-end integrated, and outbound data

* Securing micro-service solutions

* Online real-time transactional analysis and risk control

It is desirable that you have:

* UK Government recognised security qualifications

* Experience of architecture and security methods and frameworks (e.g. TOGAF, SABSA, etc)

* Securing applications and services in key public clouds including Amazon AWS and Azure

* A background of conducting hands-on ethical attacks against internet services

* Worked with UK Government security agencies
