About The Online Analytics and Optimisation Team

The Analytics and Optimisation team sits within the Online Product department. Our mission is to deliver insightful and actionable recommendations, through reporting, analysis, and optimisation; with a focus on establishing best-practice processes and enabling data-driven decision making across all product teams. Tesco Groceries, Tesco Direct, and Clubcard websites and apps are amongst the digital products supported by our team.

Main Responsibilities

The Role - Senior Online Customer Analyst

Whilst specific responsibilities will be dependent upon the changing needs of the Tesco business, the following provides an overview of the role's key responsibilities and measures:

* Develop segmented customer value models to support cost-effective acquisitions and retention, increase loyalty, and identify cross-shopping and trading opportunities.

* Work with trading and growth teams to develop strategies that maximise customer value. Performing analysis at a customer or cohort level, across all online trading touchpoints.

* Understanding the vast quantities of customer data available at Tesco, how we build and maintain this in dedicated databases, and use it to maximum effect

* Further enhancing the customer lifecycle and value model to help identify opportunities and solutions for the online properties to increase the value of Tesco customers shopping offline.

* Supporting, guiding and mentoring analysts across the wider analytics community (Online Trading, Insight, Product)

* Following our business code of conduct and always acting with integrity and due diligence

Ideal Candidate

Key Skills and Experience

You'll need to have demonstrated experience of:

* University degree of 2:1 or higher in a quantitative discipline or relevant experience

* Commercial and critical thinking

* Demonstrated expertise in Marketing channels, Analytics & Statistics, and Data infrastructure

* Proven ability to breakdown business problems into analytical questions and to articulate the business value of solutions

* Experience in communicating analytical findings in a simple way

* Experienced in setting a strategic direction and running complex projects with multiple stakeholders

* Customer segmentation, profiling and lifecycle analytics

* Advanced SQL

* Knowledge of some other key analytical tools and languages e.g. Alteryx, R, Python etc

* Knowledge of visualisation tools such as Tableau

* Knowledge of adobe analytics, google analytics, web tracking

Personal

* Flexibility, ability to plan and organise, responsiveness, creativity, self-starter

* Able to build solid working relationships with peers and senior leadership

* Resilience and strong personal drive to deliver

* Ability to demonstrate strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills to all levels of seniority and disciplines within the organisation.
