Our established media industry client in the Web/Media industry are currently looking for a full time Junior Software Tester join a small team of software testers based in Oxfordshire. This is a unique opportunity for a Junior Tester to get his/her foot on the career ladder within IT in role that offer excellent training and career development opportunities. The team work alongside the Development, IT Support and Account teams at to provide websites for a range of clients.
This Junior Software Tester role is an excellent opportunity for candidates looking to either progress in their testing career with training, or someone who already has some experience of IT systems and sees this as an opportunity for further development.
No commercial software testing experience is necessary as full training will be provided for the Junior Software Tester, but an active interest in IT is essential. Working within a small testing team also means there is the opportunity for Junior Software Tester to take ownership of projects throughout the full software development lifecycle. The varied portfolio of clients ensures the work remains varied.
The role and responsibilities of the Junior Software Tester:
Providing software testing for a range of websites
Execute the testing methodically to evaluate software quality against set criteria
Prioritising daily workload according to pre-defined criteria
Input into the documentation/requirement review process
Work closely with stakeholders (developers, account managers, support) to ensure requirements are understood and key issues are flagged in a timely manner
Ensuring high levels of quality throughout our products to maintaining a high user experience of using our software
Reporting issues in agreed format
Tracking tickets and actioning as needed
Conduct error investigations using exploratory testing techniques.
Skills needed for the Junior Software Tester:
Able to take a methodical and logical approach to work
Communicate effectively and precisely both in writing and verbally
Manage own daily priorities and workload
Adapt and learn new skills and technologies and apply that knowledge
Able to work as part of a team to share the workload and achieve project and team goals
Able to use own initiative to investigate issues
Competent user of a Windows PC, Word, using a variety of websites
Desirable skills:
Previous experience using IT
Experience using different web browsers
Able to assess risks and make informed decisions
Java or another Object Orientated programming (OOP) anguage
Selenium, TestNG or other testing technologies
The candidate: The role would suit a junior / graduate candidate looking to move into Software testing, or looking for their first role after school or University. The successful candidate will be given full training although some experience in Testing would be advantageous.
