Role Responsibilities:

The role of the Application Operations Engineer is to provide support to our clients, internal users and software development teams on a variety of technologies and Hymans products. They will also be responsible for the delivery of production ready software deployments to our production environments both inside and outside of core hours.

Accountabilities:

Maintain a number of the company’s membership systems

Provide basic systems support in addition to monitoring and reporting of systems availability / capacity

Supporting internal software development teams e.g. root cause analysis, advising on development practices in line with IT policies and systems

Continuously document and update procedures, processes and systems where required

Complete tasks in line with documented business procedures on a daily basis

Ensuring that all work is undertaken in a rigorous and methodical manner and that comprehensive audit trails are maintained

Assisting with projects and department housekeeping as required such as database cleansing.

Adhere to the firm’s information security standards, policies and procedures

Perform release management duties out with office hours once per week and occasionally weekend cover once every few months.

Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge and Attributes:

Qualifications:

Degree qualified in Computer Science or relevant equivalent experience

Skills / Experience:

Experience working in 1st line support as part of a team using an incident management system

Experience in documenting knowledge procedures where required and working to established business processes

Experience in network and server administration such as TCP/IP, DNS,IIS, Windows Server 2012, SQL Server 2012

Experience of working with .NET websites and web applications

Experience with a web based membership system

Knowledge:

Strong analytical mind-set with exceptional attention to detail

Strong written and verbal communicator with the capability of confidently explaining technical principles in a simplistic manner

Strong time management and organisational skills

Ability to prioritise workload

Ability to work as part of a team or on their own when required

Personal Attributes:

Confident and outgoing

A personal interest in Technology and / or process

Takes pride in working to high standards

Location:

Based in Edinburgh, however shall be required to work from Glasgow occasionally
