Summary

The Head of Systems Engineering (HoSE) manages and leads an infrastructure/systems team focused on a specific specialism. You have accountability for an area in terms of cost, people management, the quality of the team's outputs/solutions and devising it's technology direction. You are technically proficient and are focused on building a team that builds and supports the technical work in the most efficient and optimal manner. You plan manage and monitor strategic multi-year infrastructure initiatives.

Main Responsibilities

The HoSE for Platform Services is responsible for the UK team looking after Server Operating Systems, Databases, ExaData and Mainframe systems. The role is a part of the Operational Engineering team who are accountable for the design, delivery and running of operating systems, network, network services and databases. Once a server of database incidence is created the Platform team is responsible for operating it as efficiently as possible. The Platform team is also responsible for specifying any changes required to the initial operating system builds. They are also responsible for the systems management, security and utilisation of server assets. Over time the OE team aims to operate services wherever they are located, on prem or in the Cloud

Ideal Candidate

As well as the ability to lead complex teams, make tough decisions translate company strategy into a technology roadmap, we would like you to be good with:

* Linux

* Windows

* Enterprise / large server estate experience

* Knowledge and small scale use of AWS or Azure services

* Technical knowledge and understanding of general Infrastructure principles and ways of working

* Operations experience

* Design and development experience

* Team leading experience, preferably leading team leaders who themselves lead a team
