Join the DVLA as a Lead/Senior Software Engineer, and you'll help build world class digital services that pave the way for future business transformation.

You'll be part of the programme that's migrating legacy technology onto new, cloud-based platforms. You'll design and implement efficient, supportable applications that meet cost, resource and customer requirements. This will involve taking full solution and technical ownership, and presenting the solution to senior stakeholders. On an ongoing basis, you'll also analyse and resolve service delivery issues and monitor technology performance, looking for additional opportunities to improve it.

You'll develop software using both recognised and specialist programming languages and technology, so you'll be a technically-astute engineer. You'll provide leadership, working on your own initiative but also collaborating as part of a team structure - learning from other team members and mentoring junior developers.

We're looking for Lead and Senior Software Engineers who have experience of working as part of a flexible software delivery team working in a variety of styles, including Agile, and who also have experience in object orientated programming languages and cloud technologies (for example, Java, AWS and Unix technologies).

Besides the rewarding nature of playing a key role in a major transformation project, you'll also receive an excellent benefits package; a generous annual leave entitlement; attractive pension options; flexible working and childcare arrangements to enable a good work/life balance; as well as ongoing training and development opportunities. Successful candidates would also have the option to work from an office location in Bristol or Swindon.
