Role: Developer in Non - Functional Test

Location: Osterley

Contract Length: 26 weeks

Start Date: ASAP

Job Description:

The successful candidate will have a strong scripting, development and non-functional testing (performance and resiliency) background with deep technical expertise. Will have excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Experience of working with Agile and Scrum.

Skills and Experience:

Essential

* Experience with a few commercial and open source performance testing tools such as Gatling, /Jmeter / Performance Center/ Load Runner / Soasta

* Development skills using open source technologies using one or many languages such as Python, Ruby, Java, Scala

* Experience of automating performance testing as part of Continuous Delivery / Deployment path to production

* Good working understanding of Microservices Architecture

* Good hands on knowledge of open source tools such as GitHib, Jenkins and other build automation tools, Continuous Delivery pipelines (e.g. Go)

* Good understanding of Restful APIs design

* Good working knowledge of non-functional testing including: performance, resiliency, network, disaster recovery etc.

* Experience of Load Testing the End to End within a micro services architecture

* Proven record of developing load test scripts, running and analysing results of the load tests

* Hands-on experience on software and infrastructure resiliency testing

* Good working knowledge of Unix commands and be comfortable working from the command line

* Knowledge of relational and non-relational databases (like Cassandra, MongoDB).

* Demonstrating sound understanding of web architecture e.g. networks topology, web applications, web servers, CDNs etc.

* Worked on High Availability Low Latency applications.

* Working knowledge of applications in containerised deployment using Docker, Kubernetes or similar hosted in Data Centers and / or in the Cloud

* Experience with traffic monitoring systems to aid scaling and capacity planning

* Establishing performance and non-functional requirements

* Experience in developing performance and non-functional test plans.

* Setup monitoring tools to gather performance measurements -e.g. Prometheus, AppDynamics, New Relics

* Experience in analysing application performance bottlenecks and performance tuning

* Reporting to project's stakeholders to assist them with decision and risk assessment with non-functional readiness

* Help delivery teams understand performance and resiliency test concepts and methodologies

Desirable

* Experience of working with both Microservices and Monolith architecture, ideally having worked on migration from Monolith to Microservices

* Experience of automated resiliency testing of microservices

* Experience of content management / supply chain systems / content discovery and delivery -such as EPG, Search APIs, Personalised recommendations

* Experience of working with CDN

* Experince of working with Solr would be a bonus
