My Edinburgh based client within the Audio Technology Sector has an urgent requirement for a Failure Analysis Engineer to perform Device level failure analysis within their FA Lab. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with other talented teams within the company to support product qualifications and design debug of devices that have an immediate impact on top revenue generating product lines.

Responsibilities:

· Perform device Failure Analysis to support Customer returns, Product Qualifications, Yield excursions and new Product Development

· Perform electrical and physical fault isolation on Mixed Signal IC devices to identify cause of failure

· Communicate directly with Project Managers, Design Groups, Regional teams and external Analysis Labs

· Provide Failure Analysis resource across the business to support Qualification, Production and Customer issues

· Use advanced Failure Analysis equipment (SEM, FIB, EDX, EMMI, LSM)

· Decide appropriate FA flows based on the failure mode information

· Write Failure Analysis reports that summarises the analysis undertaken

Required Skills and Qualifications:

· Degree qualified in Science/Engineering (or equivalent experience) plus relevant background in Failure Analysis of IC devices

· Understanding of Fault isolation methods (visual inspection, emission microscopy, thermal imaging, LSM circuit tracing - CAD layout)

· Understanding and knowledge of electrical test data

· Knowledge of Failure analysis equipment

· Familiarity with Failure Analysis techniques (polishing, RIE, Chemical De-processing)

· Knowledge of semiconductor device structure and manufacturing processes (die and package level)

· Good understanding of reliability engineering methods, tests and failure modes

· Preparation and presentation of technical papers

· Attention to detail/Safety conscious
