Software and web developer

Job description

This position is to contribute to general development work for MEI, as part of its software and web development team. This will include front end and back end web development work and development work for an on-going project to collect, store and manage MEI’s data more effectively.

The role will involve working closely with MEI colleagues involved in several strands of MEI’s work.

MEI is a leading independent curriculum development body for mathematics and a major provider of mathematics CPD. MEI also plays a leading role in two government-funded programmes to support mathematics education. The applicant will become an important member of the MEI team.

The holder of this post will report to the MEI Senior Software Developer

Outline of the main aspects of the role

Working as part of the MEI’s software and website development team and with other MEI colleagues to carry out some or all of:

- Software development work for an on-going project to collect, store and manage MEI’s data more effectively.

- Web development work, including contributing to a current project to make MEI’s websites responsive.

- Regular maintenance work to ensure the sites function as intended

- Support work to ensure web content can be kept up to date

- Depending on the qualifications and experience of the successful applicant the role may involve contributing to IT support in MEI and contributing to the development of MEI’s Virtual Learning Environment for online resources

The person appointed to the post will need to be flexible and the exact nature of the role will take account of the experience and strengths of the successful applicant.

The role may be home-based but it is expected that the successful applicant will attend meetings and work with colleagues at MEI’s offices in Trowbridge, Wiltshire and at other venues as and when required.

The post is offered initially until 31 August 2019. The salary is circa £28 000, subject to experience.

A DBS disclosure will be requested for the successful applicant.
