Pearson have exciting opportunities for Information & Communications Technology teachers to become External Verifiers (also known in Pearson as a Standards Verifier) for our BTEC IT & Computing Qualifications.

The Standards Verifier role is an excellent opportunity to earn some extra money in a part-time role, alongside any full-time commitments you may have, whilst also developing your career in education.

A BTEC Standards Verifier will sample candidates’ responses from centres in accordance with the pre-defined mark scheme. Most sampling will be carried out from home with an occasional centre visit.

To be eligible to apply you need to have Experience of delivering Vocational qualifications (Eg, BTEC QCF, BTEC NQF/ next generation, Higher Nationals, Work Based Learning etc), be a qualified teacher and a minimum of one academic year’s full time teaching experience in the last 8 years. This must be in the relevant subject and qualification you have applied for, in this case Vocational Qualifications related Information & Communications Technology subjects.

Sampling will need to be completed before June ‘19. Before you begin any sampling however you will receive an induction training session and then sector specific standardisation to ensure that you are competent and comfortable in marking to the standards we set. You will be paid for attending the sector specific training as well as having your travel and accommodation expenses, where necessary, covered.

Experience/qualifications needed

- Experience of delivering Vocational qualifications (Eg, BTEC QCF, BTEC NQF/next generation, Higher Nationals, Work Based Learning etc).

- A commitment to quality assurance.

- Good working knowledge of the specifications for the subject area you will specialise in.

- You will hold a minimum of one year’s full time teaching experience of the relevant subject and level.
