Systems Administrator/Infrastructure Engineer

We are seeking a software engineer/systems administrator to work in an expanding and growing Cyber Security Operation Centre (CSOC) supporting critical national infratructure. This person will be responsible for an Elastic stack (ELK) in an Amazon Web Services (AWS) environment. As one of the operations team you will bring to the team the ability to deliver in the following areas

* Work closely with colleagues to define features and specifications.

* Be responsible for the creation, configuration and maintenance of AWS components, such as EC2 instances, S3 buckets, IAM roles/users, etc.

* Design, install, configure and maintain ELK components including LogStash, ElasticSearch, Kibana and X-Pack. Build document set describing the AWS and ELK environments.

* Train, mentor and support junior staff.

* Support the ELK environment by finding resolutions and recover from system

Essential Criteria

* Solid experience with creation and configuration of AWS objects.

* Experience as a software engineer supporting software architecture and full development life cycle.

* Excellent communications skills (verbal and written).

* Administrator experience with strong analytical and problem solving skills.

* Ability to write or review software and system documentation.

* Linux and Windows Operating System experience.

Desirable Criteria

* Experience of working in a Cyber Security Operation Centre.

* Understanding of logging policy compliances methodology such as GPG13.

* Fundamental networking knowledge, e.g TCP/IP & OSI Model

* Knowledge of log formats such as syslog, Windows Event log.

* Familiarity with Data Transport formats such as JSON and XML.

* Version Control Software Experience (GitLab). ? Use of Jira as a tracking tool.

* Familiar with SIEM Tools such as Alien vault & McAfeeESM

* Proficient in RESTful API standards and best practices

* Some programming/scripting experience.

* Ability to work in an agile environment with a fast moving pace.

* Hands-On experience of building, configuring and maintaining of an ELK stack (version 5.0 or higher).
