Established Engineering Business urgently requires a Technical Author for their offices in South Bristol. Being a Technical Writer / Technical Author you should have an understanding of all aspects of the documentation lifecycle, working closely with team members and project subject matter experts, producing the highest quality documentation to ensure that up-to-date work instructions and other information on company products is available to domestic and international employees, in printed and electronic formats.

You will also be responsible for supporting all phases of the documentation process; Information gathering and planning, Content specification, Content development and implementation, Production & Evaluation.

The following skills are required. However, the company will not expect you to have outstanding experience within each category, and will help to provide daily support in areas of;

* Strong technical writing experience. Must provide evidence of good authoring skills.

* Production of test and/or service related documentation.

* Familiarity with manufacturing delivery environments and associated processes and terminology.

* Competent I.T. skills, especially with software & Microsoft Windows operating systems. Microsoft Office is essential, however experience of writing in an XML application is preferable.

* Able to carry out editorial reviewing of work produced by peers.

* Able to follow processes as instructed by the team lead.

Desirable Skills;

* Use of Microsoft SharePoint.

* Experience of writing in an XML application.

* Familiarity with extracting images from 3D models

* Illustration/graphic design/digital photography and photo editing, and the use of software such as Corel Draw/PhotoPaint and Adobe Fireworks.

* Indexing and taxonomy.

* User interface design.

* Task analysis.

* Content development.

* Facilitating technical reviews.

* Formatting and publishing.
