Appointment of Trustees

Stroke Association

The Stroke Association is the second largest stroke support organisation in the world and the UK’s leading charity dedicated to conquering stroke.

We deliver stroke services across the UK, campaign for better stroke care, invest in research and fundraise to expand our reach to as many stroke survivors as possible. Stroke is the fourth single largest cause of death and the biggest cause of adult disability in the UK.

There are over 1.2 million stroke survivors in the UK with 100,000 strokes happening each year. That’s one stroke every five minutes. Though more people are surviving stroke than a decade ago, far too many stroke survivors describe feeling abandoned to manage recovery and rehabilitation on their own.

The Stroke Association is seeking new Trustees to join a strong Council (Board) of Trustees and Executive Leadership Team in bringing wise governance and strategic guidance as we continue to pursue our vision for a world where there are fewer strokes and all those touched by stroke get the help they need.

To ensure timely succession and equip Council for the next phase of the Stroke Association’s journey, they are seeking the appointment of new Trustees who will add their skills and expertise.

As well as particularly welcoming applications from people who have personal or family experience of Stroke, we have identified the following skillset and experience domains as key needs for the Council:

- Fundraising

- Finance and Investment

- Audit and Risk

- Digital/ICT

- Primary & Community Care / Commissioning

- Chair of the National Stroke Survivor and Carer Assembly

Please do consider whether this opportunity might exercise your expertise and your commitment to dramatically improve outcomes and quality of life for stroke survivors and their carers.

The closing date for applications is 22nd June 2018.
