A full-time lecturer in data analysis is required by one of the UK's leading private universities to teach data analysis at degree-level and data analysis related modules for apprenticeship programmes. Course delivery is primarily online with some travel to London for some classroom teaching. The role pays a competitive salary of £50,000 - £60,000

There are also opportunities to carry out this role on a part time or freelance basis in the evenings. The university is seeking professionals in all sectors of IT for their fast expanding programmes, particularly as freelancers who are available for online teaching in the afternoons and evenings.

Applications are particularly sought from practising Data Analysts with demonstrable motivation for sharing data analysis domain knowledge including techniques, methods, tools and practice. Candidates should have excellent communication skills and preferably some experience of teaching/lecturing using on-line learning platforms.

Successful Candidates would be expected to assist learners to:

- Develop a basic understanding of data management practices, tools and requirements elicitation.

- Clearly differentiate between the role of the data scientist and data analyst.

- Examine best practice in data gathering, cleansing and data management

- To develop critical knowledge in a range of data driven digital marketing research methods.

- To understand the practical uses for big data as well as how it is harvested, the challenges of 'unstructured data' as well as the ethical, legal and security concerns it presents.

You must have:

Significant practical experience as a data analyst in a variety of different businesses or organisations

- Experience of practicing data analysis techniques using a range of tools and techniques

- Significant experience of producing business reports based on, for example, data mining

- An understanding of current trends around big data, social media monitoring and data driven digital marketing.

- A degree or a professional qualification

- Hold, or be committed to achieving, a relevant teaching qualification

- Excellent communication and presentation skills and confidence in the use of IT to deliver engaging online lectures

- A strong student-centric focus

- Excellent planning, prioritisation and organisational skills
