One of the UK's leading energy performance companies is seeking a Design Manager to play an integral role in their project delivery. Working for an organisation with an excellent record in project development and delivery, this is a great opportunity to join a growing company growing on a substantial basis year-on-year.

Scope of work

As Design Manager, you will be responsible for multiple teams working on projects across the United Kingdom; these could be anything from the installation of PV panels on the roof of a building, installing new CHP or Boiler's to delivering major multi-million pound energy centres.

Managing consultants and contractors, it is important that as Design Manager, you regularly travel to sites across the United Kingdom to familiarise yourself with their projects and monitor performance. The role will encompass utilising your technical design skillset to attend projects on-site and identify areas within a project that require work being completed.

Furthermore, the position of Design Manager has financial responsibility, leading the procurement process for commissioning consultants, reviewing fees and setting design requirements and expectations. It is important that the Design Manager oversees the design, ensuring the programme is on-target, to budget and producing the level of quality desired.

The role will be reporting into their London headquarters, but will involve regular travel to projects across the United Kingdom, on average approximately 1-3 days a week. The remaining time will be spent reporting into the London headquarters with occasional time working from home.

You will:

* Have extensive experience working in design within a mechanical and/or electrical engineering environment

* Possess an understanding of how the design process works, the planning process, how a design is compiled and a knowledge of building control.

* Ideally have experience in CHP and District Heating applications

* A record in managing design teams

* Be able to commute to their Central London facility.

* Be comfortable travelling across the UK on a regular basis to visit projects.
