Technical Lead - IBM iPower - IBMi - iSeries - AS/400

Global name are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced and service orientated Technical Lead / Specialist within the IBMi Power range.

This Technical Lead sits as the "SME" for the iSeries & AS/400 Operations and Support Team that support a Global / Pan-European Infrastructure supported by an IBMi platform.

The successful applicant would be solely responsible for Level 3 Issues and Escalations from the rest your team and to resolve all incidents across all aspects of IBMi management portfolio.

Additionally, you will be heavily involved in design solutions geared towards the improvement and consolidation of the IBMi estate and supporting infrastructure. This would require keeping abreast with latest technology advances and implement new solutions where applicable in the Power and IBMi arena.

Your key technical experience will include:

* Capacity expansion of managed servers - Disk/memory/CPU/adapters

* Performance tuning and management

* Patch Management - OS patching and upgrades including management and improvements

* HMC hardware firmware and BIOS maintenance and upgrades

* Manage vendor specific hardware and BIOS upgrades and firmware for HMC, VIOS, Storewise (V7000, V5020, V3700) and Tivoli

* Server Health Monitoring using MGTI standard tools.

* Reacting to system alerts, identify capacity issues and plan resolution

* Management of Tivoli monitoring solution (incident alerts and performance reports)

* Manage global BAU change and incident tasks from MGTI GL System i Operations

* Manage the MGTI GL System i Ops incident queue to diagnose and resolve operating system and hardware incidents within SLA

* Follow the 'hand over process' between regions ensuring knowledge is transferred

* Perform root cause analysis and report to queue managers plus Problem Mgmt

* Rebuild production & development servers when they are irrecoverable

* Design, install, configure and manage IBMi server

* Design, install, configure and manage Tivoli monitoring and performance servers

* Install configure and manage HMC servers (Hardware Management Consoles)

* Install configure and manage BRMS (Backup Management software for IBMi)

* Install configure and manage Powertech Compliance Suite (Compliance Software)

* Install configure and manage MIMIX replication software

* QA checks of all server builds to ensure they meet the MGTI standards. Production acceptance of commissioned servers

* Manage and perform the decommissioning of servers

* PowerVM skills to manage VIOS and hardware V7000, V5020, V3700 - Install, Configure,
