Airbus GroupAs an Earth Observation Specialist you will be joining a department of 25 and a team, of 5 - all of whom specialise in EO and love sharing knowledge.
Airbus is a global provider of satellite data and value-added services and is now looking to recruit an earth observation / remote sensing specialist with experience in optical and/or radar data analysis to join our analytics team. The candidates will need to have a thorough understanding of Earth Observation satellite data and remote sensing. You would be required to work on a range of development projects and/or services simultaneously, analysing time series of pre-processed radar or optical satellite imagery to derive new or improved thematic exploitation services.
The role will focus on satellite data analysis and algorithm development for the improvement of innovative data applications and services in a range of market sectors such as air quality monitoring, disaster resilience (including asset mapping, soil erosion modelling, landslide, forest fire, flood or drought monitoring), marine surveillance, or agriculture.
You will be a key player in developing new products and services
The projects you'll be working with will be dealing with daily, global, data and data analytics.
This role will require occasional travel, approx. 4 times a year throughout Europe.
The successful candidate will need to gain UK Security Clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs Developing algorithms based on satellite-derived data
Understanding of data requirements for different thematic applications and ability to locate appropriate data (when available)
Reviewing existing EO-derived services across the space industry and identifying gaps
Provide technical support to bid managers in proposal writing
Contribute to the design of future projects and applications for funding by providing expert input
Previous experience reviewing and assessing Earth Observation services
Advanced programming skills (such as Python, R, IDL, Matlab) and good working knowledge of EO software packages such as ERDAS Imagine, Envi, SNAP
Excellent written and oral communication skills with experience in technical bid writing
Capable of identifying existing data sources to integrate within a service, such as sourcing relevant soil, weather, climate and / or historical disaster events datasets,
Experience in deriving data from pre-processed radar and/or optical datasets
Must be able to work to tight deadlines
