Successful candidates for this role will be required to work as part of a team of engineers, developing software for use in real time automotive applications. Work covers all parts of the software lifecycle from developing new ideas and concepts, and requirements capture through to final validation and customer approval.
Software engineers are required to possess a degree of self-discipline and initiative that will allow them to work unaided, solving engineering problems that are required by the position. The majority of the work is centred on the development of new ideas and fitting them into an AUTOSAR based architecture (AUTOSAR training can be given), which will require a large amount of creative thinking. The final software will be running in a safety critical system, so must be proven to be reliable to a high degree of rigour. The ability to spot potential problems and perform adequate testing at all levels of abstraction is essential.

Job role: 1. Working with sales, marketing, customers and engineering to define product specifications 2. Interpret customer and product specifications to produce software functional specifications 3. Software system design 4. Software Safety 5. Documentation of architecture and high level design 6. Ensuring compliance with processes required by ASPICE and ISO26262 7. Ensuring the software design follows the company software and quality procedures 8. Ensuring that all work is carried out safely
Must have experience and skills in ALL of these areas below: 1. Experience in development of real-time embedded software using the C programming language 2. Experience with high level automotive CAN protocols, ideally UDS-on-CAN, OBD and J1939 3. Exposure to MISRA coding standards 4. CANbus 5. Debugging on real-time embedded systems 6. Dealing with real time operating systems
Desirable experience and skills: 1. UML or other structured design methodologies. 2. AUTOSAR 3. Model based design and Autocode generation (Matlab / Simulink) 4. Knowledge of or experience of working with the Automotive SPICE (APSICE) development framework 5. Experience with other vehicle technologies, especially CAN FD, FlexRAY, and vehicle ethernet 6. Experience with working with tier 1 automotive suppliers 7. Experience of coding for ISO26262 ASIL-C compliance
